Our Research
Our research focuses on development during infancy and childhood, as well as on the transition into adulthood. We are particularly interested in how social development unfolds and how babies and children learn in social interactions. To better understand this fascinating development, we use various methodological approaches from behavioral and brain sciences. For instance, we apply electrocardiography (ECG) to measure heart rate, we use electroencephalography (EEG) and functional near-infrared spectroscopy to record brain activity, we apply interactive eye tracking to assess perception and attention, and we carry out behavioral observations of social interactions. The more we know about development, the sooner we can find ways to inform families and educators about developmental processes, help children with difficulties and create optimal social and learning environments for all children!
